ASB Gambia - Donating, Volunteering & Contact Info
The ASB Gambia is an independant, self-financing and therefore any donations are highly welcomed. Receipts for all donations will be issued.
We also highly welcome volunteers who would like to come to the Gambia and work with us in the clinic. Our volunteers should be between 18-28 years of age and either have A-Levels or equivalent, a completetd job education or a University degree. Good knowledge of the English language is also required. From our volunteers we expect a high commitment, interest in the Gambia, its culture and people, the willingness to live in very different conditions than in Europe and a good sense of humour.
The aim of volunteering with us include the mutual cultural exchange, destruction of prejudices, exchange of know-how and mutual understanding and construction of motivation. Depending on qualifications, the volunteers should assist our staff in administrative jobs, social work (e.g. work with people living with HIV/AIDS), medical care ( e.g. antenatal care, labaratory). It is important for you to know that volunteers should not replace local jobs, but are merely here to assist and support.
We are a partner of the development volunteers service "weltwärts" programme by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and our mother organisation in Germany. You could either get in contact with one of those organisations or directly apply to us.
